Part II: Love and War (2012)

“Imagine all the people living life in peace”
John Lennon (1940–1980)
Many of Handel’s arias and chamber music depict the glorification and tragedy of war. The drama of this production is further enhanced by the choice of performance venues, which have included Berlin’s Gedächtniskirche – the church that was bombed during World War II and now stands as a memorial in the centre of the city – and the Hanomag in Hanover – an old factory ruin where military vehicles and weapons were made during World War II.
